Designing a Test Prep Ecosystem
Overview
I joined Blueprint Test Prep in 2018 as its only UX designer, and became the de facto product designer before a dedicated product design team formed in 2022. I would shape dozens of features and establish the visual foundation that would eventually become a comprehensive design system and component library.
Within my first two years, I designed two complete learning platforms spanning UI/UX, video, and print.
Overview
I joined Blueprint Test Prep in 2018 as its only UX designer, and became the de facto product designer before a dedicated product design team formed in 2022. I would shape dozens of features and establish the visual foundation that would eventually become a comprehensive design system and component library.
Within my first two years, I designed two complete learning platforms spanning UI/UX, video, and print.
LSAT
The first platform I redesigned was for the LSAT, establishing the core UX principles and visual language that laid the groundwork for the 2.0 platform which later rolled out to all verticals, including MCAT, LSAT, Nursing, and Med School.
The first platform I redesigned was for the LSAT, establishing the typographic and color systems that shaped both the product UI and video learning content.
These early decisions became the foundation for the platforms and design system that followed.

Feature Design
I designed each experience to work seamlessly across devices, including a dedicated LSAT tablet mode that mirrored the real exam environment. Across Blueprint’s platforms, I designed dozens of features, from interactive study planners and animated flashcards to dashboards, score reports, analytics and the universally accessible Lessons Learned Journal.

MCAT
As Blueprint expanded into MCAT prep, I designed its first fully integrated learning platform, bringing study planning, learning content, video, and assessment into a unified experience. The platform became the foundation for a broader product ecosystem and the design system that followed.
I proposed a color system that gave each subject its own identity, so learners could tell what they were studying at a glance in their Study Plans. It started with LSAT and MCAT and became a lasting product principle as Blueprint expanded into NCLEX, NP, and medical school prep.

Process
As a leader of the Product Design Team, I helped guide our work through the Double Diamond process, from discovery to delivery. We researched learner needs and product data, defined the right problems, developed and tested solutions, and partnered with product managers and developers to bring designs to life.
